The Boston Marathon, the world’s oldest annual 42.195 km race, will be held again at its traditional time, the month of April, in 2022, after being canceled in 2020 and postponed to October 2021 due to the pandemic. But as has been the case with many sporting events around the world, only people with full Covid-19 vaccinations will be allowed to participate in the race. It will be the 126th edition of the race, created in 1897, a year after the Olympic marathon, which only occurs every four years, was the star of the first modern-day Olympics, the 1896 Athens Olympics.

But in 2022, proof of vaccination will be mandatory and the vaccination rate will reach one hundred percent, as will happen in the Rio Marathon, which will once again occupy the Aterro and stretches of the South Zone and Downtown Rio de Janeiro on November 15.
The Rio 2021 Marathon
The Rio Marathon is back after being canceled in 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic. And it is the first major street race in Brazil since the coronavirus turned the world upside down. This Sunday (11/14), at 5 am the half marathon will start and finish at Aterro do Flamengo. On Monday, holiday November 15, the marathon will also start at 5 am, with the 5 km and 10 km races at 9 am.
The staging of the Rio Marathon 2021 celebrates Rio de Janeiro’s achievement, for the second consecutive time, as South America’s top destination for sports tourism. The title was awarded by the World Travel Awards, a global awards initiative for the tourism sector.
